Essential Tips for Living in Barcelona (Cultural Hotspots, Public Transportation and More)

Barcelona, being a big cosmopolitan city, can be a bit overwhelming — especially if you’re visiting from a foreign country with different laws and customs. The fast-paced lifestyle, the crowded subway, the busy streets… It may be a bit challenging. However, there are also plenty of places to relax and unwind, such as the beach and parks. With so much to explore, these essential tips will guide you on your journey.

One of the first things you should do is locate the must-see tourist spots. You can easily find a map at any information center to help you locate all of these places (or, you know… Google Maps). From the iconic Sagrada Familia to the stunning Gaudí buildings and the picturesque Park Güell, these attractions are all part of the EAE Barcelona campus and can be enjoyed with a stroll around the city.

Metro de Barcelona.

When it comes to transportation, you’ll have the main train station in Barcelona, Sants, right in your backyard. From there, you can easily explore much of the Iberian Peninsula, with access to other points in Spain. On a local level, the Barcelona metro system is, as Evelio puts it, “very accessible.” With 12 different lines covering the entire Catalan capital, it’s easy to get around and explore. Plus, the color-coded infographic makes it simple to understand and navigate.

This inspiring journey has left us with a valuable lesson, as shared by Evelio: “After putting in so much effort to complete your studies and receive your degree, it’s truly satisfying to reflect on everything that went into achieving that goal: leaving your family, friends and job behind may have been tough, but it’s all been worth it because I continue to grow both personally and professionally.”
