The world tech capital once again moves to Barcelona. Visitors to Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) will discover and enjoy the latest trends and developments in the world of telecommunications. The event will take place from February 27 until March 2.

The goal for this year is to accelerate access to an internet connection at a global level. Around 1.4 million people worldwide still don’t have guaranteed access to the network. Increasing internet access would mean fulfilling one of the Sustainable Development Goals set for 2030.

Big Names Taking Part in the Mobile World Congress

While at the beginning it was seen as an event that was strictly devoted to mobile phones, little by little, it has been expanding its horizons and having guests over from different other key tech industry sectors like gaming, sustainable tech, metaverse, finances, meta-humans, health, cryptocurrencies, augmented reality and virtual reality. Slightly over 2,000 companies from different areas have confirmed their attendance and will be presenting their future projects.

In previous editions, some corporate giants like Mark Zuckerberg or Elon Musk have shown up and given talks to the visitors of the MWC. But then the pandemic came and the presence of tech tycoons at the Fira de Barcelona was replaced by online talks.

The Mobile World Congress in Barcelona until 2030

Many of the mobility restrictions that were still present by the end of 2022 have been lifted, which allows for a much more positive forecast, with a partial recovery of the record numbers achieved in 2019, where there were almost 110,000 participants.
